ABOUT THE ARTIST Laurie Hendricks, M.F.A., is a South Pasadena,
California artist who has been painting and drawing for as long
as she can remember. Since earning her Master of Fine Arts degree
at the San Francisco Art Institute, she has concentrated on the
arts including painting, acting and filmmaking. From New England
roots, she is a direct descendent of painter John Trumbull, known
best for “The Signing of the Declaration of Independence”
and other depictions of the American Revolution.
Growing up in Berkeley, California, surrounded by painters and
potters, art was a natural direction. The beauty of the San Francisco
bay and its environs were an early inspiration.
Laurie lives in South Pasadena with her husband Peter, and her
two daughters, Tess and Eliza. She has studied watercolor painting
with Eva Margueriette and Tim Clark, and oil painting with Corrinne
Hartley. Laurie is a colorist who returns to nature for her subjects
of florals, still life’s, portraits of children, and Plein
Air landscapes.
Her paintings hang in many private collections. She accepts commissions
and is well known for her “House Portraits.” She also
teaches watercolor and drawing classes for children and adults.
